PRE-SEASON REPORT: Buxton picked up another win in the penultimate pre-season game

Buxton continued their impressive pre-season form with a commanding 3-0 victory over Accrington Stanley, delivering a solid performance in their final home game before the new campaign.

The Bucks started brightly, with a near miss in the 6th minute as Will Trueman won the ball back and set up Sam Tomlinson, whose shot went just wide of the post.

Tomlinson was again involved four minutes later, beating his man but failing to find the target.

Buxton's early pressure paid off when Ethan Fitzhugh found the net in the 12th minute, only to have the goal ruled out for offside.

The hosts kept pressing, and in the 19th minute, Trialist B's effort was parried away by the visiting keeper.

The breakthrough finally came in the 33rd minute when, after a series of blocked attempts, Tomlinson fired home from close range to give Buxton the lead.

Just four minutes later, a clever free-kick routine saw Fitzhugh chip the ball over to Liam Ravenhill, who calmly dinked it over the keeper to double the advantage.

Buxton continued to dominate in the second half, with Captain Josh Granite heading just wide from a Trialist A cross in the 62nd minute.

Tomlinson had another chance in the 70th minute, but his shot missed the target.

Connor Kirby also came close, forcing a near-post save from the keeper a minute later, with the follow-up shot going over the bar.

The home side's relentless pressure nearly resulted in another goal in the 75th minute when Trialist A curled a free kick onto the post.

However, the third and final goal came in the 84th minute. Josh Williams played a ball over the top to Ben Sault, whose pace took him down the wing. The resulting cross found Connor Brady, who slotted it home to seal the win.

Buxton's solid defensive display ensured another clean sheet, and they will look to carry this momentum into their final pre season fixture away at Stafford on Saturday.
