PREVIEW: Alfreton looking to return to winning ways against Bradford Park Avenue

Alfreton will be looking to return to winning ways as they face Bradford Park Avenue at the Impact Arena.

The Reds lost 3-2 to an 84th minute winner on Tuesday away to Altrincham but are still undefeated at home so far this season.

The Opposition

Bradford Park Avenue have had a difficult start to the season, having only picked up one point so far with a draw away at Gateshead.

Bradford started the season with back-to-back 5-0 defeats which saw manager Garry Thompson sacked after just two games.

Former Kettering manager Marcus Law has now taken the reigns at the Horsfall Stadium. Despite improving performances so far for his side, Bradford Park Avenue have still been unable to pick up their first win of the season.

Previous Meetings

In the eight previous meetings between the two sides, Alfreton have never beaten Bradford Park Avenue.

Last time out, Alfreton were held to a draw away at Bradford, Reece Styche’s second half goal was cancelled out in the 86th minute by defender Gianluca Havern.

Team News

Alfreton midfielder Bobby Johnson was substituted at half time against Altrincham, with manager Billy Heath confirming that the injury he picked up in pre-season has returned.

Danny East was also substituted after going down against Altrincham but should be fine for Saturdays game.

Managers Thoughts

Despite Bradford’s difficult start to the season, Billy Heath believes his side need to take the visitors as a serious threat.

Heath said: “You can’t underestimate anyone in this league, we need to go out there and play our game.

"They managed to pick up a point against Gateshead, so they clearly have something about them.”
