PREVIEW: BUXTON FACE SOUTHPORT

UP NEXT:

We are at home again as we face Southport at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium with a 3pm kickoff on 25th November 2023.

The Bucks

The Bucks go into this game after returning to winning ways against Hereford on Tuesday.

Jordan Burrow scored the first goal and Jake Hull got his first goal for the club to seal all 3 points in a 2-1 victory.

Following the win manager Craig Elliott said:

"We gave the fans something to sing about. The new lads played a full part along with the rest of the team, giving us balance and cohesion.

There was real energy in midfield. Slowly, were getting injured players back and I'm hopeful we can kick on further through December."

Opposition

The club finished 18th in the league last season.

They play their games at Big Help Stadium which has a capacity of 5414.

The club are nicknamed The Sandgrounders.

They currently sit 15th in the league on 25 points from 20 games.

After a poor start to the season losing their first 4 games they have picked up form since getting new manager Jim Bentley in.

They appointed Bentley at the end of August and went on to win their next 3 games under the ex Morecambe manager.

He has since signed a new deal at the club keeping him there until 2026.

They lost their last game narrowly to Scunthorpe 1-0.

One to watch

Marcus Carver won the player of the month in October for the national league North.

The 29 year old forward has scored 6 goals since arriving on loan from Scunthorpe for the second time.

Last Time Out

A goal from Diego De Girolamo in Febuary mean that we did the league double over Southport last season after previously beating them 4-1 in Merseyside.
