A late Scott Boden goal was no consolation as the Spireites slipped to defeat in their second home game of the season.
Goals from Ibrahim Meite and Dave Tarpey allowed the Cards to take all three points from the Proact Stadium.
John Sheridan made one change to the side that salvaged a point at Boreham Wood. Robbie Weir came in to replace the suspended Laurence Maguire.
In the opening minutes it was Liam Mandeville who claimed the first shot, but the effort hardly tested Cards’ goalkeeper, Craig Ross.
Five minutes later a half-chance came for the visitors. David Tarpey’s corner was headed wide of goal by Ben Gerring.
Rowley found space and cut inside, but the end product was blocked by Gerring when it hit him square in the chest.
Alan Dowson's men were appealing a penalty in the 27th minute when Ibrahim Meite went down on the edge of the box, but the appeal was soon dismissed by referee, Sam Barrott.
A clash in the middle of the park just before the half hour mark could have seen the away side reduced to ten men. Ibrahim Meite seemed to elbow Will Evans, but he only received a yellow card for the incident.
Neither John Sheridan nor Alan Dowson made any substitutions at the break.
Shortly after half time the home side were given a huge let off. Meite beat Jonathan Smith to fire a powerful, low cross into the box, Tarpey was at the back post but failed to get anything on it and it went out for a goal kick.
A few minutes later it was the away team who opened the scoring. Tyreke Johnson put in a cross from the right, and it was Meite who got the final touch, putting his side into the lead.
In the 60th minute it was Dave Tarpey who doubled the Cards’ lead. He curled his free-kick into the top left of the net, leaving Shwan Jalal with no chance.
The Woking lead was reduced late on through Scott Boden who headed it home from close range just four minutes from time. However, the Spireites couldn’t muster a comeback and the side from Surrey took all three points home in the end.
