Chesterfield battled among difficult conditions at Stonebridge Road to claim a point against Ebbsfleet United, extending their unbeaten run in the league to four games.
John Sheridan was forced into three changes as Robbie Weir, David Buchanan and Mike Fondop came into the side to replace Curtis Weston, Josef Yarney and Tom Denton.
The Spireites managed to hit the woodwork just seven minutes in when Johnathan Smith’s strike from the edge of box bounced off the foot of the post.
Shortly after, the hosts had an opportunity of their own when Tyler Cordner’s ball found Frankie Sutherland who was in a dangerous position. But the QPR Academy product could only get the end of his boot to the ball allowing Shwan Jalal to claim it comfortably.
However, it was Town who took the lead on 14 minutes when Gevaro forced Fleet keeper Harry Palmer into action. He could only punch the ball into the path of Scott Boden who tapped it in to take the lead.
Boden’s goal was soon cancelled out by former Spireite Gozie Ugwu with a tap in of his own. Myles Weston played a low ball into the box which hit the post and bounced out to the forward, who tapped home with ease.
The Spireites could have taken the lead again in the 32nd minute when Gevaro swung in a ball to Fondop at the back post who couldn’t find the target.
Another chance came for Chesterfield towards the end of the first half when Boden played the perfect ball for Smith who saw his header whistle inches wide of Palmer’s goal.
John Sheridan was forced to make a change at half-time as Jalal was taken off due to a back injury. He was replaced by Luke Coddington.
Ebbsfleet were given the opportunity to take the lead in the 51st minute when Weston was fouled just inside the box by Haydn Hollis. The referee pointed to the spot and Gozie Ugwu stepped up firing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Hollis made amends just three minutes later with the equaliser. The centre-back glanced in Jay Sheridan's free-kick past Palmer.
Ebbsfleet had to opportunity to win the game in the last ten minutes when substitute Josh Umerah found himself one on one with Coddington. The suvstitute keeper made a fantastic save to secure a point for the Spireites.
