Buxton retained The Derbyshire SeniorCup at Pride Park with a convincing 5-0 victory against Heanor Town.
The Bucks showed the difference in levels early on in the 3rd minute with Connor Kirby’s shot getting blocked behind by Max Thornberry.
Heanors first attempt came in the 9th minute after Keaton August beat a man and his shot was blocked by The Bucks defence before being cleared away.
The ball then came across the face of goal all the way to Adam Livingstone and the fullback was able to get to the ball but was adjudged to have fouled the player he got ahead of.
Dylan Mottley-Henry found the open Diego De Girolamo and with an ambitious dipping volley went just over the bar.
Winger Mottley-Henry continued to cause The Lions defence issues running at them with pace and Joe Nice putting in a last ditch challenge to stop him getting through.
In the 28th minute Tommy Elliott’s shot from the edge of the box was saved down low by Louis Kinnerley in the goal to deny to opener.
It was De Girolamo who gave Buxton the lead in the 30th minute after a touch and move saw him create space for a shot and he smashed it into the corner for 1-0.
And Mottley-Henry was able to double the lead just before half time after Max Hunt hit his shot with Mottley-Henry able to flick it in for 2-0.
Buxton came out quick in the second half and it wasn’t long until they had their third goal. Elliott put the ball through to De Girolamo who was there to prod it in on the 53rd minute.
Keaton August put a powerful strike towards Joe Young in Buxton’s goal with captain Josh Granite getting back and he was able to block it out for a corner ball.
Substitute Eoin McKeown looked bright as soon as he came on putting a shot just wide and linking up to find De Girolamo in the box who’s shot was spilled by the goalkeeper before claiming.
After a number of substitutions from both sides Heanor put the ball in the net but it was ruled out for a foul on Young.
In the 84th minute Buxton found the 4th goal of the game with McKeown using his pace to tap it past a defender and got a cross into Jake Wright Wright was unable to put it in with Kinnerley saving however the rebound fell to Max Brogan for 4-0.
Only 5 minutes later Brogan got another to make it 5-0 dribbling it around the goalkeeper and after a scramble finding the net.
This secured the trophy for the second year in a row and meant that Craig Elliott picks up one last cup as Buxton manager.
