Midweek football preview

We've got league and cup action tonight, as the football carries on from where it left off on Saturday.

Tuesday night will be an exciting one for Derby for more reasons than just the big away day, as Frank Lampard looks forward to taking on former boss Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United side in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford. The Rams had to get past Oldham and Hull City to reach the third round, and will need to be at their best to progress past United.

Hoping not to go into double figures on the winless streak, Martin Allen's Chesterfield host Maidenhead United in their latest National League fixture. The Spireites are currently winless in nine after a 3-0 weekend defeat to Gateshead.

After a 2-2 draw in their Second Qualifying Round game at Sutton Coldfield Town, Alfreton look to secure a place in the penultimate qualifying round at the Impact Arena. Also hoping to progress at the second time of asking are Buxton, who travel to Coalville Town after a 0-0 draw in the original fixture.

Mickleover, who won in style in their FA Cup game on the weekend, return to league action in hope of converting their cup form into points. The Sports host promotion-chasing Scarborough Athletic in their NPL Premier Division fixture, and can rise into the top half of the table with a victory.

NPL East outfit Belper Town face a trip to AFC Mansfield in their Tuesday night fix, whilst fellow East Division side Gresley wait until Wednesday for their trip to Carlton Town. Glossop North End round up the Northern Premier League fixtures with a Tuesday night trip to Radcliffe in the West Division.

At tier five of the non-league, all three Derbyshire sides are in cup action. Whilst Long Eaton visit Sandiacre Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup for a 7.30pm kick-off, Ilkeston host Rocester as they launch their Midland Football League Cup campaign alongside winless South Normanton, who travel to Stapenhill.
