PREVIEW: Buxton face Morpeth in important league game

Buxton welcome Morpeth Town to the Silverlands in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.


The Bucks are looking to build on that amazing 3-2 comeback against local rivals Mickleover Sports on Tuesday with a home match against the Highwaymen

 

Opposition


Morpeth Town are looking to pick up there first win of the decade after losing heavily to Lancaster City’s 4-1 last week. However, The Highwaymen as they are nicknamed, are looking to continue there form from the cup with a big 5-2 win against Markse United that happened on Tuesday.


Morpeth, who play at Craik Park, were promoted last season after being crowned champions of the Northern Permier League Division One East. They currently sit in 14th place.

 

Player to watch


Liam Henderson:

This prolific striker is looking to try and be Morpeth’s top goalscorer for a third season in a row. He already has an eight goals to add to the ten assists he also has.


Ryan Hutchinson:

This England C international is another to look out for the Highwaymen. The defender comes into the team having arrived from Blyth Spartans as is looking to get his first minutes against Buxton.

 

Previous meeting


The last meeting between these two sides came back in September with a close encounter leading to Morpeth winning 2-1 at Craik Park.


Joe Walton gave the home side a 2-0 lead with two second half goal before Brad Grayson reduced the deficit in added time.
