REPORT: Buxton fall to defeat in close encounter against Morpeth Town

Updated: Jan 26, 2020

Buxton came very close even being 2-0 up at one point but a Jack Foalle hattrick made it end 2-3.

In a game packed full of chances for both sides Morpeth did very well defensively with a few chances from Buxton.

Buxton however did find the break through with the returning Byrne doing one of his many great crosses this game for Diego De Girolamo to beat his man and then smash it into the roof of the net in the 15th minute. After this Buxton continued to create many great chances but just couldn’t put them away. However they did double the lead with an indirect free kick that came from a pass back to the Morpeth keeper. The goal was layed off to Diego De Griolamo who again smashed the ball into the back of the net in the bottom corner.

This speared Buxton on to have another chance shortly after with a stunning shot met with an equally stunning save to deny Kristian Scott for the third of the game. Morpeth did however come into there own a bit with a header going straight at the keeper.

They continued to perform after this with Ben Harmison had his shot that rebounded to him blocked out for a corner. This led to a good spell from Morpeth with Buxton having to do well defensively to keep them out. Just before half time they did find there goal with a beautiful whipped in corner in the 41st minute which was turned in by Jack Foalle to take the score into the break at 2-1.

Buxton started the second half lively with a corner coming into a dangerous area with the follow up shot blocked. Unfortunately for the Bucks however there good opening was pegged back when Jack Foalle equaled the score with an absolute worldie of a volley from 20 yards out.

After this was very end to end action with both sides creating some good play of football but neither being able to get shots away. Buxton created a number of chances with Brown

being at the front of both creating and having chances himself but unfortunately couldn’t get the ball in the net.

For the most part of this half the game was very even. Morpeth did go ahead though in the 81st minute with Jack Foalle finishing off a wonderful hat trick with Buxton switching off at the back.

Buxton did have the better of the last 10 minutes of the second half however it was to little to late with them not being able to put there chances away and living to regret that loosing 2-3.
